CARPAL TUNNEL RELIEF AT ALLCHRISTIE MASSAGE SPA IN SANDY UTAH

CARPAL TUNNEL RELIEF AT ALLCHRISTIE MASSAGE SPA IN SANDY UTAH
PART TWO

AT ALLCHRISTIE MASSAGE SPA we want you to understand your body and how to keep it active and working properly. Regular massage will bring you quality health. When overworking certain areas of the body, body work repairs will bring the area back to health - when addressed early.

Let me describe your hand to you. (See the bones picture in Part One) There are eight small bones in the wrist called carpal bones form a gliding joint, arranged in two adjacent rows of 4 carpals, the mid-carpal joint. These bones form the base of the carpal tunnel. A ligament forms the roof of the tunnel - like a bridge. Through the small carpal tunnel passes the nine flexor tendons, along with the median nerve. The flexor muscles originate at the elbow, go down the underside of your forearm, merge into the tendons, which then go through the carpal tunnel, and insert into your wrist, hand and fingers. Any pressure or a contraction exerted onto this area will squeeze the median nerve causing pain, and numbness to the hand and wrist.

The arm muscles that attach to the wrist are connected at the elbow. The Brachio-radialis muscle and the Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus muscle are attached to the humerous bone in the upper arm. The ankle is similar to the wrist in how it functions.

A trained massage therapists, at Allchristie Massage Spa, will begin by addressing the level of pain or discomfort you are feeling. Then talk to you about your job and any repetitive stress in your lifestyle that may cause injuries. If the level of pain is mild such as occasional tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain in your fingers or hand, we work to relieve the pain and inflammation.

Licensed massage therapists, at Allchristie Massage Spa, will utilize touch therapy to give relaxation to the muscles (a loosening or slack in the tendon), adjust the position of bones by stretching, and add lotion with essential oils to be absorbed, with pain reducing effects. We begin your therapy by stretching from hand to elbow along each muscle, shifting gradually from one side to the other. This will stretch or loosen the tight muscles and give relief. It will also flush out lactic acid and allow fresh blood to flow into your muscles.

We are not physicians and will not give medical advice. Looking on the internet, I found this medical information. If you choose to see a medical doctor, your doctor will probably prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs or may suggest surgery. Your doctor or hand surgeon may recommend an EMG or write you a prescription to take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to relieve pain and reduce swelling. He may also recommend you wear a wrist splint at night to keep your wrist in a neutral position and relieve pressure on your median nerve. Next, when your pain is gone, begin exercises for flexibility and strength for your arm and wrist. It is possible that conditions diagnosed as Arthritis or Fibromyalgia are actually tight muscles pulling on a joint.

Make your appointment today to talk about your wrist pain and schedule time for your pain relief!

AROMATHERAPY INFO AND USES AT ALLCHRISTIE MASSAGE IN SANDY UTAH

AROMATHERAPY INFO AND USES AT ALLCHRISTIE MASSAGE IN SANDY UTAH

Aromatherapy is the science of using volatile plant oils from one or a variety of plants, labeled essential oils, for psychological and physical well-being. The scents from these oils bring about positive changes in the mind, mood, and in the body. Essential oils have healing properties and can be used to reverse illness and physical ailments. Essential oils treat medical conditions. For example, they can fight infections, promote wound healing, reduce inflammation, affect hormonal levels, stimulate the immune system, heat the skin promoting blood circulation, and are good for digestion, sinus or lung congestion.

Scent is a very powerful thing. Scent has the power to transform our emotions, and heal our bodies. For example: certain scents like oatmeal cookies can trigger memories and take you to that experience instantly. Ohers scents can bring about certain mental or physical changes. Some persons are very affected by relaxation with certain oils. You can see the facial expressions change – right before your eyes.

During a massage the use of essential oils is a powerful way to maximize the healing power of the massage itself, with a powerful calming or energizing effect. The effect will depend on the oil chosen and the strokes of the therapist (slow movements relax and quick movements stimulate). Essentials oils go directly to the spot they are applied and needed.

A client that is suffering from Arthritis will have pain in joints. The use of juniper, lavender, rosemary, ginger, chamomile, tea tree, clove oil, and lemongrass will relieve the swelling and reduce the pain. Also birch, cayenne and ginger reduce the transmission of pain receptors to the brain. For a Headache the therapist would choose chamomile, lavender, peppermint, basil, chamomile, lemongrass or marjoram. Peppermint has a stimulating effect. Lavender is healing and chamomile is relaxing. Aging skin is another area that is helped with essential oils. These oils are the most expensive - rose and frankincense bring the best benefits. For example: it takes at least 20,000 rose pedals to make one ounce of oil.

Relaxation or a good nap will be aided with bergamot, chamomile, clary sage, frankincense, geranium, lavender, melissa, mandarin, neroli (orange blossom), rose, sandalwood, and tangerine. These can also be used in bath water and inhaled while relaxing. Viral Infections You may use bergamot, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon bark, clove bud, eucalyptus, garlic, geranium, holy basil, juniper, lavender, lemongrass, lemon, marjoram, myrrh, oregano, rose, rosemary sage, tea tree, and thyme.
